Course Information

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The objective of this course is to provide comprehensive training to Man & Women from the designing phase to the final execution of a properly constructed garment, including the finishing process and quality control. The curriculum emphasizes skill proficiency to enable trainees to support the related industry and contribute to economic growth. It also aims to maximize the production of high-quality garments for both export and local markets.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After this course, you should be able to

Design eastern or western garments and make technical realizations through pattern, cutting, and sewing, while maintaining quality.
Use computer software for designing and presentations.
Make specification sheets, and use trend forecasting and process manufacturing to understand industrial production processes.
Understand the industrial setup and work as assistant designers, supervisors, or quality control personnel.

Course Outlines

  • Fashion Drawing and Draw Sketches: Covers drawing, shapes, proportions, and silhouettes.
  • Design Development: Focuses on research techniques, mood boards, and creating technical sketches of various garments.
  • Colouring and Textiles: Includes colour theory, mediums, textures, and designing textile patterns.
  • Introduction to Measurement: Teaches the use of measuring tools and how to take proper body measurements for different garments and ages.
  • Pattern Making: Covers drafting basic blocks, manipulating them for different designs, and using pattern-making tools.
  • Cutting for Sewing: Provides an understanding of different cutting techniques for various materials.
  • Sewing: Focuses on different sewing methods using home-based and industrial machines, as well as hand finishes.
  • Finishing and Quality Control: Teaches the importance of quality control, including checking measurements, removing threads, labeling, and packaging.
  • Computer and Digital Communication: Explores digital tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop for design and presentation.
  • Communication and Management Skills: Covers organizational behavior, attitudes, and communication with co-workers and customers.
  • Garment Production System: Provides knowledge of industrial production systems, including method study, work station analysis, and quality control.
